The next CDT Seminar will be held Tuesday, January 22nd, at the Petit Science Center in PSC124. Please join us to hear Dr. Rongshi Li from the Moffitt Cancer Center of the University of South Florida. His talk is entitled “Antibiotic and Anticancer Drug Discovery: Design and Synthesis from Fragments to Natural Product Derivatives.”

Dr. Li is an Associate Professor/Member in the Drug Discovery Department at Moffitt Cancer Center, and Oncologic Sciences, Morsani College of Medicine at University of South Florida. Dr. Li previously held positions as Senior Vice President, Discovery Chemistry at Pharmaron, and Senior Director of Chemistry at ChemBridge Research Laboratories. Dr. Li started his industrial career in 1995 at IRORI/ChemRx/ Discovery Partners International. He received his Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry as a Killam Scholar from Dalhousie University in Canada and obtained his postdoctoral training in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at University of California San Francisco. Since starting his academic career at Moffitt Cancer Center in late 2008, Dr. Li has authored and co-authored 10 peer-reviewed publications, filed six patents, and edited one book. His current research interests include fragment-based and structure- guided drug design, synthesis of enzyme inhibitors and protein-protein interaction disruptors in the areas of oncology and antibiotics, natural products chemistry, and high- throughput medicinal chemistry.
